Counselor-In-Training
Caring ... Honesty ... Respect ... Responsibility

Part two of a two-year leadership training program: Become an integral part of a cabin counseling team while supported by veteran staff members and your peers.

"My daughter felt the three head counselors were exceptional leaders and role models, and she was very motivated to do her best for them. I think she learned excellent leadership skills."

Counselor-In-Training Description
Living in camper cabins, C.I.T.s are an integral part of the counseling team, and spend time in peer group discussions sharing cabin experiences, addressing concerns, and developing leadership skills. The lower C.I.T. fee acknowledges C.I.T.s' service to Camp Echo as they learn. C.I.T.s have an exclusive opportunity to enroll in Echo's Lifeguard Plus, or to be reimbursed by Camp Echo at the McGaw YMCA class rate for any Lifeguard class successfully completed within one year.

Lifeguard Plus - Session 1
This program is open to those enrolled as C.I.T.s this summer or who were C.I.T.s last year. Participants receive Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid instruction while serving as a C.I.T. in a Pathfinder or Main Camp cabin.

L.I.T./C.I.T. Limitation
The L.I.T. and C.I.T. programs each have a defined two-week curriculum, so initial registration is limited to one session. We wait-list requests for a second session of the same program and honor them after February 1, on a space available basis. Repeat participants must understand that many activities will be duplicated.

Specify your preferred session ahead of your additional session on the registration form and include an additional deposit; if no spaces are available, your deposit will be applied to your existing balance.

Teens who desire a longer Echo experience are encouraged to consider our Adventure Trips or other teen programs.
